Pre & post care following your Dermapen Microneedling treatment at The Beauty Edit will vary from person to person. You can find a general list of our pre & post care:

Before your treatment:

• Avoid active skincare products such as retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, and strong exfoliants for at least 3–5 days prior to treatment.

• Minimise sun exposure and avoid tanning (including fake tan) for at least 1 week before treatment.

• Use a broad-spectrum SPF daily in the lead-up to your session.

• Ensure the skin is clean and free of makeup, moisturiser, or sunscreen on the day of your appointment.

• Avoid injectable or filler treatments in the area for at least 2 weeks before your session.

• Let your clinician know if you have any active skin conditions, such as cold sores, eczema, or infections, before your appointment.

• Stay well hydrated and avoid alcohol or anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen) for 24 hours prior, as these can increase sensitivity.

After your treatment:

• After your Dermapen Microneedling treatment, your skin may appear red, warm, or feel slightly tight — this is normal and typically settles within 24–48 hours.

• Avoid touching your face, hot showers, saunas, or steam rooms for 24–48 hours post-treatment.

• Do not use active skincare ingredients (such as retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, or exfoliants) for 3–5 days after treatment.

• Keep the skin hydrated with a gentle, nourishing moisturiser or hyaluronic acid serum.

• Apply broad-spectrum SPF daily and avoid direct sun exposure for at least one week.

• Avoid excessive sweating or intense exercise for 24 hours after your session.

• Do not wear makeup for at least 24 hours, unless otherwise advised by your clinician.

• Mild flaking or dryness may occur as the skin renews — avoid picking or exfoliating.

• Continue your recommended treatment course (typically every 4–6 weeks) for best results.
