Your Pico Laser facial treatment begins with a double cleanse to remove any surface bacteria or dirt.

The settings on the Pico device will be tailored to your needs, for a personalised and suitable treatment.

During the treatment, the hand piece is passed over the treatment area, emitting short bursts of laser light with high peak power and ultra-short pulse durations. The laser can target melanin beneath the surface of the skin, breaking it into smaller particles. The laser will also work to stimulate collagen and elastin production, improving skin tone, reducing pore size and reducing skin laxity over time. Treatments can take less than 30 minutes, depending on the condition of your treatment area.

Your Pico Laser will be finished off a custom cocktail of serums, moisturisers and SPF.

Pre & post care following your Pico Laser treatment at The Beauty Edit will vary from person to person. You can find a general list of our pre & post care:

Before your treatment:

• Avoid excessive sun exposure and fake tanning for at least 2 weeks before your appointment.

• Wear a broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen daily.

• Do not use retinol, retinoids, AHAs, BHAs or other active exfoliating skincare for 3–5 days before treatment.

• Avoid waxing, chemical peels, microdermabrasion or other resurfacing treatments on the area for 1–2 weeks prior.

• Arrive with clean skin free from makeup, fake tan and moisturiser.

• Inform your clinician if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking photosensitising medications, or have recently had other cosmetic treatments.

• If you have a history of cold sores and are treating the face, please let your clinician know, as antiviral medication may be recommended.

After your treatment:

Following your Pigmentation Laser treatment:

• Mild redness, warmth and slight swelling are normal for the first 24–48 hours.

• Pigmented spots may temporarily darken before naturally flaking away over the next 7–14 days. This is a normal part of the healing process.

• Keep the skin hydrated with a gentle moisturiser as recommended by your clinician.

• Apply SPF 50+ sunscreen every day and avoid direct sun exposure while the skin heals.

• Do not pick, scratch or exfoliate any darkened pigment or flaking skin.

• Avoid retinol, exfoliating acids and active skincare for 5–7 days, or until the skin has completely settled.

• Avoid hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, vigorous exercise and swimming for 24–48 hours.

• Mineral makeup can usually be applied after 24 hours if the skin is comfortable.

• Continue following your personalised skincare routine as advised by your clinician.
